Graduate-Level Internship Program

Seton Hall University Higher Education Administration Graduate-Level Internship Program

The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services is proud to announce the  launch of its new graduate-level internship program the Seton Hall University Higher Education Administration Internship Program. This program is aimed at supporting graduate students in the College of Education and Human Services’ Department of Higher Education Leadership, Management and Policy Program. Interns will be required to complete a minimum of 100 hours within either one or two semesters. Interns will benefit from a hands-on-approach, with mentoring from divisional professionals in a meaningful and exciting learning environment. Interested graduate students should send a resume and a cover letter that includes the following:

Career Center Graduate Intern
Department: The Career Center
Start date: Spring 2008
Duration: One or two semesters
Paid: Yes.

Project responsibilities can include:
1) Outcome Assessment Project: Develop/conduct and summarize the outcomes of an employer directed survey that will target employers that participated in the Career Center’s recruiting programs and career events. Strong writing, presentation skills; organizational and project management are essential. Some knowledge of survey evaluation tools is desired. Graduate intern will be introduced to Career Center’s educational programs and services and participate in staff meetings.


Health Education and Programming Intern
Department: Health & Counseling
Start date: Spring or August
Duration: One or two semesters
Paid: No

Candidate must possess the ability to develop skills in training and supervision to support undergraduate student workers who are Peer Health Educators under the supervision of the Coordinator. Creativity and strong verbal and written skills are preferred. Must have proficiency in  Excel and MS Publisher. Ability to create documents and support the creative process related to all aspects of the center. Candidate should have an interest in issues related to student life, health, alcohol and drug prevention programming. Experience will include researching best practices in alcohol and drug prevention on college campuses and research based programming.


Community Development Internship
Department: Community Development
Start date: Spring 2007
Duration: One or two semesters
Paid: No

Brief description:
This internship will consist of research on current issues and a variety of hands on programming experience with respect to judicial affairs, activities programming, Greek Life and/or University Center operations. Dependent upon the graduate student, the internship will be crafted to meet the needs of both the department and the student in one or more of the aforementioned areas. Specifically, duties will include research on current issues and trends within the realm of higher education and report back with recommendations & proposals for departmental improvement. These proposals will highlight areas of strength and weakness and indicate missing attributes which can support successful student learning. Learning outcomes, assessment and best practices will be the areas of focus.


Campus Life Programming Intern
Department: Community Development
Start date: Spring 2007
Duration: One or two semesters
Paid: No

Description:
The intern for Campus Life Programming would report directly to the Assistant Director for Community Development Programming and work primarily with the MetroSHU and Weekend At The Hall (WATH) programs. Responsibilities include: providing support in the development, coordination and evaluation of Student Activities program and assisting in the development, planning and execution of WATH and Metro SHU.
