Introduction

Turrell Manor is a unique living and learning community. Is home to 83 juniors and seniors who are committed to academics and servant leadership while building a vibrant community.  The Turrell Manor experience is one that encourages students to discover their vocation as they prepare for the transition period from college to the world after graduation. The living experience will provide a focus for out-of-class learning through programming that integrates intellectual stimulation, academic excellence, and dedication to service and leadership in a community living environment.   


Overview

 

Application

Turrell Manor residents will be selected through an application process.  To qualify to live in Turrell Manor, applicants must have earned at least 60 credits before the beginning of the semester which they are applying for residence. Applicants must have and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.  Applications will consist of short answer questions, previous dedication to service, excellent academic standing, and the names of 2 references.   

Requirements

All residents in Turrell Manor will be required to participate in 25 hours of community service each fall and spring semester. The Residence Life and Housing staff will be offer a variety of service opportunities each month during the semester.  Residents will also be expected to fully participate in the community by attending monthly floor meetings, community builders and other programs provided by the residence life staff. Residents will need to earn at least 27 priority points to order to be qualified to have their lease renewed for the following year.  Applicants must also be in good judicial standing at the time of the application in order to be considered.  If a resident is placed on University Probation or higher while living in Turrell Manor his/her lease will be terminated. 

GPA Requirement

GPA’s will be checked each semester.  If a resident’s cumulative GPA falls below a 3.0 the resident will be required to leave residence unless they apply for an exception, and will be required to develop a plan to improve their academics. If a resident is granted an exception he/she will have one semester to bring their GPA back to a 3.0.  Residents will only be granted one opportunity to apply for an exception.

Service Requirements

The housing staff will collaborate with multiple departments and units on campus to plan and implement on-going community service projects for residents.  Residents can sign up through their Resident Assistant for projects they would like to participate in during the beginning of each semester.  Residents will have the opportunity to earn community service hours on their own with the pre-approval of the Residence Hall Director. Turrell Manor residents will be asked to sign a “Program Commitment” form with more information and details on agreements and fulfillment of requirements. We reserve the right to cancel an assignment in Turrell Manor due to non fulfillment of agreement and require the student to vacate the room within two calendar days, or as otherwise stated in writing by the University.

Turrell Manor

Housing is available at Turrell Manor for returning juniors and seniors who would like to participate in the Turrell Manor Servant Leadership and Academic Excellence Program.  This program requires a separate housing application to be turned in on or before the application drop-off date of Monday, April 9th, 2007 and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.  For a link to the application, estimated rates and eligibility information and more information about the program please visit the Turrell Manor website.
