Conference Housing Policies
General Policies:
- Residents may host two guests during the day and one overnight. However, a guest pass will not be issued after midnight. If a guest is of the opposite gender he or she may not sleep in the same room as their host.
- A no smoking policy is in effect in all of our residence halls.
- Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to noon, Sunday through Thursday.
- Quiet hours on Friday and Saturday are from midnight to noon.
- No pets are allowed into the residence halls.
Lock-Out Policies:

Residents must carry their keys and ID with them at all times. If you are locked out of your room, the following fines will be imposed onto your account:

1st lockout = $5 fine

2nd lockout = $10 fine

3rd and any additional lockouts = $25 fine

Lockout fees may be added to the total conference bill or Bursar Account.

The loss of a room key or failure to return the key upon check-out will result in a $72 charge for a lock change.
Health and Safety Policies:
- The HRL Staff conducts Health and Safety inspections. The staff will enter the room whether the resident of that room is present. All violations found will result in a $250 fine.
- The following items are prohibited in the residence halls:
Furniture that is not approved by California Code 133
Furniture or items placed in the suite area
Candles/ incense
Halogen lamps
Alcohol bottles, cans, kegs
Broilers, skillets, woks (on campus)
Toaster ovens, toasters, hot-plates, or hot pots (on campus)
Coffee pots/ coffee makers (on campus)
Extension cords/ Multi-plug outlets
Holiday lights
Fireworks/ explosives
Combustibles
Weapons
The following items are permitted in the residence halls:
Alarm Clock
Computer / printer
Desk/floor lamp
Dust buster/vacuum
Flashlight/batteries
Full-length mirror
Iron/ironing board
Laundry bag/basket
Laundry detergent
Microwave (no more than 600 watts; 1 per room)
Phone
Pillows/pillowcases
Radio/stereo
Refrigerator (2 cubic feet maximum)
Fan
TV (cable ready)/VCR/cable wire
UL-approved power strip with circuit breaker
Fire Safety:
- If the fire alarm in the residence hall is activated, all residents and staff must proceed out of the fire doors at both ends of the building and walk to the designated meeting area (building specific). Failure to comply with the proper procedure will result in a fine from the South Orange Fire Department or the Housing and Residence Life Department and termination of your housing contract.
- Evacuation procedures, including designated meeting areas, are reviewed by University staff at mandatory floor meetings which conference guests are required to attend.
- No one will enter the building until it has been checked and cleared by the South Orange Fire Department and the Housing and Residence Life staff.
- The fire alarms are extremely sensitive and are easily activated from cigarette smoke, shower steam, tampering, or any other heat source.
Hall / Room Conditions:

The Seton Hall Housing and Residence Life staff has accounted for all damages in the residence hall. Any additional damages will be billed to the guest.

Each guest will sign a Room Condition Report. If the guest finds any damages in his/her room upon check-in that is not accounted for in the Room Conditioning Report he/she is encouraged to report it to the staff.

No beds may be bunked without permission from the Residence Hall Director.

No furniture may be stacked.
Guests may not hang anything on the walls with scotch, duct, or double-sided tape, tacks, staples, glue, or self-adhesive labels.
