Cable TV Installation Instructions

Seton Hall University is pleased to inform you that cable television service is ready and can be hooked up to your television or VCR now! If you know how to hook up the service to your TV or VCR, you may do so at this time.

HOW TO INSTALL YOUR CABLE SERVICE

Cable Ready TV: Simply connect the end of the cable jumper from the wall to the back of the television input. (No converter required).

Cable Ready TV/Cable Ready VCR: Connect the cable jumper to the VCR input. An additional cable jumper is required to come out of the VCR output to the input on the TV.

(Converter is not required, TV should be set to channel 3, in some markets the channel will have to be set to channel 4) channels will be switched via VCR or TV depending on manufacturer.

Non Cable Ready TV: A Cable-ready VCR or a converter box is required for this. You can supply your own converter box or one can be purchased from Campus Televideo. Connect the cable jumper from the wall to the input on the converter, then use the additional jumper from the output on the converter to the input on the TV. (Some older TV’s may require an adapter called a matching transformer that gets attached to the VHF screws. Set TV to channel 3 or 4, channels now switch through the converter box.

If you are not sure how to connect to your television or VCR, contact your Residence Life Office who will contact us so that we can assist you with your connection.

You will not have to use a converter box if you have a cable-ready VCR. The VCR will act like a converter box. If you do require a converter box, you can check with your Housing Office to see where they are being sold on campus. Converters must be paid for in full when ordered.

Thank you for allowing us to serve you and we hope you enjoy your cable television service! Should you have a service request please report problem to your RA or RHD for prompt attention.
