Jacquline Chaffin
Director – The Career Center

Jackie has been the director of The Career Center since 1998. During this time she has focused on advancing a University-wide Experiential Education agenda, developed a "high tech and high touch" Career Center environment and has transformed The Career Center into a highly regarded Center on campus.  She is committed to developing strong recruiting partnerships with the employer communities and tapping into the expertise and loyalty of Seton Hall's alumni.  Jackie's experience includes internship program development and consultation, career counseling and assessment, training and development and corporate recruiting. She credits her time working for Ingersoll-Rand's university relations and corporate recruiting program as essential building stones in understanding employer relations/recruitment.  As an adjunct professor for the College of Education and Human Services, she has taught graduate courses on Career Development Theory and Career Assessment.  She has served on the boards of state, regional and national professional organizations and presented numerous workshops nation-wide.  Jackie believes that she is living her vocation and calling as a career educator and coach assisting individuals in discovering their true potential and life value.  She received a BA from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, a M.Ed. from the University of Georgia and has completed several doctoral courses at Seton Hall.

 

 

Reesa Greenwald
Associate Director – The Career Center

Reesa has many years of experience in career development and experiential education, including cooperative education, internships and service learning. She is active in state, regional and national professional associations and is a trainer for the National Academy for Work Integrated Learning.  Presently, Reesa works with SHU alumni and graduate students in the Masters of Corporate and Public Communication, MPA and MHA programs. Her favorite part of working at Seton Hall is the energy of the students and the feeling of “community”.  Reesa received her Master’s degree in Counseling in Higher Education from Montclair State University.  She is a past president of the New Jersey Cooperative & Internship Association and incoming Vice President of the national Cooperative Education & Internship Association.  

 

 

Andrea Garrido
Associate Director - The Career Center

Andrea Garrido presently supports the career education, recruiting initiatives, and employer and alumni development efforts of the Stillman School of Business. In addition, she works with business students, MBA and MS students, and oversees the Center's Pirate Men
tor program and the On-Campus Recruiting Program. Prior to her work in The Career Center, Andrea spent 9 years in the corporate sector, most recently working on the National Sales team of a large national health insurer located in New York City. Andrea spent the previous 6 years working in corporate Human Resources and Recruiting. In 2002, Andrea left her corporate career and began a transition to higher education where she could follow her desire to coach, mentor and counsel students. Andrea holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Business Management from the Joseph A. Sellinger, S.J. School of Business and Management at Loyola College of Maryland, a Master of Arts degree in Psychological Studies from Seton Hall, and is currently pursuing her Ed.S. degree in Counseling at Seton Hall.

 

 

Nancy Borkowski
Senior Assistant Director for Vocation and Career Development
Joining the Career Center in June 2008, Nancy has spent over 15 years in career services settings working with college and university students and faculty. Nancy will be assisting first year students, undeclared students, undecided students, and College of Education majors in developing their career goals and calling.

Nancy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a Master of Education degree in College Student Personnel from Miami University (Ohio). She earned a Doctor of Education degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Georgia. She has worked in career services centers at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, Emory University, and Miami University, and the Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Georgia. Nancy’s background includes experience in graduate student and faculty development, first year experience course, academic advising, and a national non-profit educational foundation.
 

 

 

Marisa Ackermann
Assistant Director for Experiential Education

Marisa joined The Career Center in August 2007 and currently works with students in the Stillman School of Business, focusing on MIS, marketing, management and sports management majors.  As a result of the career journey which led her to Seton Hall, Marisa is passionate about helping students live their vocation and explore different paths along the way.  Marisa is a proud “double Eagle,” having received both her B.A. in Political Science and her M.A. in Higher Education Administration from Boston College. An avid sports fan, Marisa spends most of her free time attending or watching games with her fiancé.

Anne E. De Santis
Assistant Director for Experiential Education

Anne has joined The Career Center team during the summer of 2007.  She comes from Montclair State University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling with a focus on Higher Education and Student Affairs.  She is looking forward to assisting students in the College of Arts and Science specifically those majoring in Communication Studies, Broadcasting, Visual Media, Interactive & Advertising Design,  Journalism and Public Relations, Fine Art and English, as well as Nursing and Museum Professions. Anne will strive to guide them in a process to realize their vocational calling and explore the many resources and opportunities available to them for achieving success in their college and life-time career choices.
Anne’s personal interests include; contemporary Christian music and cooking, walking, going down “the shore” and camping.

 

 

Carol Ann Koert

Career Adviser for Experiential Education
If you are a Political Science, History, Psychology, or Criminal Justice major, you want to talk to Carol Ann.  The lone Canadian on staff, Carol Ann brings an interesting perspective and accent to The Career Center.  Carol Ann started working at the office in October 2006 after two years at the Center for Vocation and Servant Leadership. She had the opportunity to work with students in the Servant Leader Scholarship program and realized the best part of working at a university is the students!  As the chair of the Public Service Month committee, Carol Ann spends the month of February educating students about careers and internships in the public service and nonprofit sectors. Carol Ann has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Mass Communication from York University in Toronto, Ontario Canada and a post-graduate certificate in Corporate Communications from Centennial College.

 

 

Amie Donahue
Assistant Director for Experiential Education

Amie comes to The Career Center after working with the Admissions Office in Enrollment Services. There she worked closely with prospective and incoming transfer students. As part of her graduate work, Amie also has experience working in a university Career Center where she helped students with job search methods, career exploration, and resume preparation.  Amie currently works with students in the College of Nursing, The Graduate School of Medical Education, and the College of Arts and Sciences in the majors of Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Studies, Social & Behavioral Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, Math and Computer Science. Amie received a B.A. in Psychology and Spanish from Kings College and a M.S. in Higher Education Counseling from West Chester University. Amie enjoys cooking, reading and traveling.

 

 

Simone Thompson

Secretary

Simone joined The Career Center in October 2005 after working in the Development Office and Alumni Services.  Simone manages the front office of the Center where she welcomes and assists students, employers and alumni.       

In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.   Simone is currently working on her Education degree and plans to attend Seton Hall in the fall where she will study Speech and Hearing Pathology.

 

 

 

Elaine P. Laws

PT Career Professional
Ms. Laws has experience in career services in both industrial and university settings.  Ms. Laws managed career outplacement at AT&T and recently was a career development officer for Rutgers University's School of Business MBA program.  Additionally, during her professional career she directed college recruiting and internship programs and developed professional mentoring programs for women and under-represented minorities pursing advanced degrees in science, mathematics, and engineering.  Elaine holds a Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and a Master's degree in English Literature from Seton Hall University. She has as well pursued post graduate study in educational psychology at Seton Hall.  She completed  executive training in Strategic Human Resources Planning at the University of Michigan School of Business and is a member of the Strategic Human Resources Management association and the Women in Engineering Programs and Advocates Network.  

 

 

David Tirpak

Graduate Assistant
Prior to joining Seton Hall’s Career Center, David contributed to the mental health profession in a partial-hospitalization program for adults.  This experience afforded him an awareness that a significant portion of psychological distress in adults corresponded to a lack of career generativity.  Working with a student population, David aims to take preventative measures to reduce this occurrence through support and empowerment; helping students make informed decisions regarding their career.  David received his B.S. in Psychology from Sacred Heart University and his M.Ed. in Counseling and Human Services from Lehigh University.  Currently, David is pursuing his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Seton Hall.  His research interests include emotional intelligence, nonverbal behavior, and training relationships in psychology.  David’s professional goals are to become a professor in the university setting, a researcher, and a private practitioner with emphasis on career consultation.
