About the SHU Leadership Institute

Founded in the Fall of 2006, the Leadership Institute is the aggregate of many formerly independent campus wide leadership programs.

Drawing from the support of Campus Ministry, the academic colleges, University Advancement and Freshman Studies, the Leadership Institute aims to provide a well rounded series of programs, speakers, and development opportunities to community members at all levels in their own leadership growth.

Within the institute are a series of regular "LEAD" programs, aimed at developing practical and theoretical skills for leaders. A calendar is published semi-annually, and programs may appeal to various demographics of campus leaders.

The institute also sponsors fall and spring conferences and team-building opportunities for leaders and groups, in addition to connections offered with various resources outside of the university. The 2007 annual spring conference attracted more then 300 students, 40 presenters, and received rave reviews from attendees.

The Leadership Institute is currently under the supervision of the Office of the Dean of Students, and under the leadership of Asst. Dean Sarah Clifford.
