Standing & Joint Committees

Committees, as established in Title IV of the Bylaws, serve to assist the Senate and the student body in the more efficient execution of tasks. 

Student Affairs Committee

Chair: At-Large Senator Kimberly Franko

The Student Life Committee is responsible for the day to day planning and legislation regarding all aspects of campus life.  Members of the committee sit on various university boards and councils, and help to develop programming, policy, and plans for both the SGA Executive Board and the university as a whole.  Main focuses include Resident Life, Greek Life, Dining Services, Commuter Issues, Financial Aid, and Campus Life.

Academic Affairs Committee

Chair: Business Senator Kristal Batanjany

The Academic Affairs Committee is responsible for the day to day planning and legislation of all aspects regarding academic life on campus. Members of the committee represent various constituencies of students to the College Deans, Provosts and staff, as well as serve on numerous academic committees and councils. Their main focus involves policy vigilance and negotiation, but other areas include the Bookstore, Technology, Academic Freedom, Financial Aid, Admissions, Faculty/Administration issues, and others as assigned by the Speaker.

Public Relations Committee

Chair: Business Senator Michael Varano

The Public Relations Committee manages the image of the Student Government Association, and is responsible for coordinating the implementation of all social functions, as well as advertisement for all events, programs, and initiatives.  The Public Relations Committee serves at the direction of the Speaker but works closely with the executive Communications Dept. on association message.

What are we working on right now?

 

Finance Committee

Co-Chair: S.G.A. Executive Treasurer Jennifer Lackie

Co-Chair: Education Senator Scott Rebholz

As a joint committee, the Finance Committee serves as the delegate of the Senate in allocating funds to SGA recognized organizations. Meeting weekly, they hear proposals for fund and resource allocation, and by proxy, make a determination for the Senate body as a whole. All auditing power is also held within the committee under the direction of the Treasurer.

 

Judicial Committee

Chair: At-Large Senator Kate Bogan

As a select committee, the Judicial Committee is responsible for all internal legal and ethical matters of the association, most importantly adherence to the Constitution, Bylaws, and all legislation therein. The Chair also serves as the Parliamentarian, and advises the entire association on contractual, procedural, and legal matters. All SGA Organizations also use the Judicial Committee as a resource to solidify their own charters and contracts.

 

 

Elections Committee

Chair: S.G.A. Executive Vice President Ashley Sax

As a joint committee, the Elections Committee is responsible for filling all seats of the Senate, as well as designing and monitoring election procedure, pursuant to the code in the Bylaws. The Elections Committee also enforces fair practices and constitutional adherence in all SGA Organizations, ensuring fair elections. The Committee meets on an as-needed basis.
